Activate wants to shout out a massive thanks to Shane Clarke and Hayley Bromley. In recent weeks both Shane and Hayley have come down to Activate and taught our crew a few more
tricks and skills.
Shane Clarke came down to teach us some amazing skills in hip hop dancing. Shane Clarke is the artistic direction of Dance Virus Productions (DVP). DVP are the 2009 and 2010 Australian Hip Hop Champions and have performed at events such as St Kilda Festival, WNBL Grand Final, Ministry of Dance Launch, Wicked Force Anniversary, on Channel 31 and Channel 10 and at various clubs. DVP have represented Australia in San Diego at the prestigious hip hop competition ‘BodyRock’ and continue to gain recognition and awards throughout the worldwide dance industry. Shane has also performed alongside Ricki Lee, at the ARIA’s, L’Oreal Fashion Festival and taught workshops in Jakarta, London and San Diego. Shane was brilliant in teaching us all how to pop and lock some eye
popping moves.

Hayley Bromley also came down to show our group the skill and techniques required for Airbrushing. Airbrushing involves air compression to utilise different pressures and sprays in painting. It was awesome seeing the guys crack out some designs and great spray skills. Hayley brought along t-shirts and bags that some terrific designs were sprayed onto. We definitely look forward to some very cool t-shirts being seen around the community soon.

Huge thanks to Shane, Hayley and all the participants!
In the recent school holidays, Activate headed down to Luna Park to see if it could handle the full
force of our crew. It was an amazing day despite the rain and there was no ride too scary for our group,
although there were a few staff with queasy stomachs! The rollercoaster’s were easily the most exciting and nerve racking and the dodgem cars gave a few people insights to their driving skills.
Big thanks to everyone that made it a terrific day and we look forward to seeing you all again next school holidays!
Don’t forget as well that this term Australian Hip Hop Champion Shane Clarke will be coming to Activate to teach you some wicked skills for the dance floor.
So if you’re keen make sure to pop into Activate
or get on the mailing list so you’ll know the date and time.

Catch you next time,
Siobhan.
Starting to get tired of having nothing to do after school? Why not head down to the Activate Youth Program in Ashwood on Wednesday nights?
